New User Interface and Rules Engine Technologies for an Advanced Ground Station Schedule Editor – NUI

Our team has developed a prototype for an advanced ground station schedule editor, referred to as NUI. This project focused on designing a user-friendly interface with powerful features, including automated validation and correction capabilities tailored to satellite pass EPS/ESS schedules for the ESA’s ESTRACK systems. By allowing end-users to define customized rules through Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs), NUI offers increased flexibility and adaptability to specific scheduling needs.

In addition, the project explored the application of Complex Event Processing (CEP) using JBoss Drools Fusion, which enhanced the ESOC operators’ ability to manage alarm notifications efficiently.

As the sole contractor, Softcom-Int implemented the project using key technologies like Java 8, Eclipse e4 RCP, JavaFX/FlexGanttFX, Eclipse EMF, and JBoss Drools. This effort demonstrates Softcom-Int’s commitment to providing innovative, mission-critical solutions that align with ESA’s high standards in ground station operations.
